Checking with a glass of water
If the refrigerator is on and the light is on, but you don’t hear the sound of the compressor, it is possible that the No Frost system is defrosting. The defrosting program is performed twice a day and takes about 30 minutes.
There is another much more reliable way to check the compressor for proper operation. To do this, you will need to place a thermometer in a container of water and place it in the center of the refrigerator compartment. After 6 to 8 hours you need to check the thermometer reading with the temperature mode set in the fridge. If the readings match, then the appliance is working properly.
