Keep Freezers in the Right Place

Many assume that the garage is the ideal place for it however, the constant change of temperatures in a garage that doesn’t have a steady temperature will alter the way that the freezer will run; too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.
Keep the Freezer Clean Inside and Out
Freezers do get dirty over time; food may leak out before it is frozen, odors from certain foods will linger and this makes it difficult for the freezer to maintain. The best way to take care of your unit is to clean it inside and on the outside whenever possible, about once a month. When cleaning your unit, be sure to pull It out from the wall and clean the coils with a vacuum to remove the dirt and dust that may have built up over time. This will greatly help the unit to circulate the air as it should.
Monitor the Door Gasket and Thermostat
The thermostat on your freezer should be monitored to avoid overheating or not cooling down enough. This will mean that you should check the gaskets inside the door and clean it monthly with a warm soapy cloth to remove any debris that may become wedged within. When cleaning this gasket, visually observe it for tears or cuts as this could be hard to maintain temperature.
Defrost Freezers As Required
The freezer will need to be defrosted on a regular basis. Even an automatic defrosting freezer will need to be thawed out every so often because of the thick layer of ice that will build up on the shelves. Once every three months or before you restock your freezer, unplug the unit and allow it to defrost.
